Book «Strange Fish»
I wanted the ocean to settle in this book, and also a boy and a fish. This is a small parable about how a boy swims into the heart of the ocean in search of the most ancient miraculous creature in order to find out the answers to questions that torment not only him, but all of humanity. And how this story ends cannot be predicted even by the clever boy himself.
Я хотела, чтобы в этой книге поселился океан, а ещё мальчик и рыбка. Это небольшая притча о том, как мальчик приплывает в самое сердце океана в поисках самого древнего чудесного существа, чтобы узнать ответы на вопросы, которые мучают не только его, но и всё человечество. И то, как заканчивается эта история не может предугадать даже сам смышлённый мальчик.
I chose the classic book binding, but the body of the book was inspired by Hokusai's Big Wave in Kanagawa. I wanted to create the effect of multidimensionality, layering and overflow of colors.
Я выбрала классический книжный переплёт, однако тело книги было вдохновленно «Большой волной в Канагаве» Хокусая. Мне хотелось создать эффект многомерности, многослойности и перелива цветов.
In this ocean, which was created thanks to different shades of ink, I put a traditional fish in the foreground. I wanted this mysterious creature to look ordinary and simple, unlike the images that people endow it with. And across the ocean, a surprised boy looks at her.
В этот океан, который был создан благодаря разным оттенкам туши, я поселила на первый план достаточно традиционныу рыбку. Мне хотелось, чтобы это загадочное существо выглядело обыденно и просто в отличии от образов, которыми её наделяют люди. И ещё через весь океан на неё смотрит удивлённый мальчик.
And all that is between an ordinary boy and an incomprehensible truth is the waves in which the text of the parable itself hides, dives, dissolves. It would be nice to read it to the sound of the ocean.
И всё, что между обычным мальчиком и непостижимой истиной - это волны, в которых прячется, ныряет, растворяется сам текст притчи. Хорошо было бы читать его под шум океана.
